I would tell them that because what is happening to your hummer and how you are being taken care of that you were looking to trade for an explorer. Maybe that will get the ball rolling.

So here's my update...

I called GM Canada (because I am Canadian with a U.S. truck) and the girl there just basically told me with no recall on the truck for that issue, your **** outta luck. She says we (in Canada) don't have that 'head' problem, so my issue is not as common as you guys over in the U.S. of A...

So I called GM U.S.A - got a really nice guy on the phone who was as helpful as can be... told me they can't do anything because the truck is in now in Canada. But told me I should try and speak to a district specialist. He couldn't refer me to one (in Canada) and the only way to get to one is by a referral.

So Basically I am stuck in the shuffle...

Last thing he suggested is call a Hummer dealership in the U.S. that has been dealing with these head issues and try and coordinate with them and my local dealership .. hoping they can make them realize that this is a known issue.

That being said... does anyone know of ANY dealership that has done several of these head jobs on 06 HUmmers???

Thanks

See if you can get ahold of a service bulletin from the dealer that describes the problem. There are known VINS that are affected. I would keep calling and ask them where you can take this to be looked at. I was only given two options because the Hummer store had closed and the Cadillac dealer had taken over the warranty work.

Just remember that any service department can 50% goodwill something any day, it's just a matter of will they or not. Keep pushing GM telling them that it's a known issue with the Atlas motor and the same motor is in the 04-05 Colorados and they extended the warranty on all of those trucks for this issue. And the head was redesigned because of this issue.

call Hummer customer service and ask them to recommend a dealership to you. Only certain dealerships have been given the warranty to continue servicing Hummers. My understanding was that not all GM dealerships can do cross line warranty work.

Can anyone confirm the VIN breakpoint on this head/valve issue? I have read on a couple Hummer forums that GM started making these I-5 engines with hardened valve seats to prevent this. The VIN break point I have read is: (vin-6 rpo L52 and LAST 6 OF VIN LESS THAN 287591)

My VIN is after this so I should be okay, but wanted to verify this breakpoint. I currently do not have any issues and have just under 43K on the engine.
