Alternator musings, correct me if I'm wrong....
So I've set out to teaching myself how to service/repair/rebuild alternators. From what I've seen, at least for my alternator, the AD244 145A, the biggest diodes that come on any rectifier I can find are 70A. There are plenty of kits out there that come with 240A, 260A, 275A, and 300A stators. That's all well and fine, but if you're only dealing with 70A diodes, 3 positive, and 3 negative, that adds up to 210A.
I can't see, or seem to figure out how a rectifier would last long, or the alternator could be expected to output its purported amperage with only 210A worth of diodes.
Anyone have any comments on this, or am I not understanding this correctly?
