I am getting ready to buy an H3 Alpha, other than the locker and larger tires; is there another difference in the Alpha and an Alpha with OffRoad option? If I level and install new shocks and bump stops, does this change the difference in the Std Alpha and OffRoad package Alpha?

At this time I plan on doing light off roading, Silver Lake Dunes, two track trailes, maybe Drummond Island.

I can always install a locker, is there more underneath protection..etc..

I am too purchasing an Alpha, however the one I am looking into has the offroad package. I didn't really notice any other differences than the ones you mentioned. The offroad package has the different tires, suspension and the lockers. I don't know about the underneath protection however.

 

What I would like to know is: what is the difference in suspension? Tires are bigger, locker(s), gear ratio I am aware of.

I found an alpha but i have also been thinking of waiting/looking for an alpha with off road package.

08, 09 Alpha w/o OffRoad package

-V8, higher spring rate torsion bars, cast iron front diff, 265s

08, 09 Alpha w/ OffRoad package

-V8, higher spring rate torsion bars, cast iron front diff (09 w/locker), Rear locker, 4:1 transfer case & 285s

I have both the 08 Alpha with and without the OffRoad package. In real world tests with the same driver (me) the Offroad package is hands down the winner. Once in 4lo the 4:1 transfer case and locker(s) will out climb, decend, pull, push and anything else much better than the Alpha w/o the OffRoad package.

This is why I am searching for a 4:1 transfer case, front and rear lockers for the Alpha that is w/o the OffRoad package.
