Unhappy alpha or no alpha?

Hello all I'm new to the forum and have been looking at H3's for a week or so now. I am currently torn between buying an 08 H3 alpha which seems to be an amazing vehicle or a standard 06 H3, which is equally amazing, but 8000$ cheaper. Besides the price difference and the miles I wanted to hear the pros/cons of both before I made my desicion. I do mild offroading, meaning through the woods for the most part, nothing crazy like a 60% grade or heavy boulder climbing but alot of mud and sometimes snow/ice. I also have a family of 5 and need to be sure than when we all pile in everything is kosher and nobody is cramped... I do mild towing as well, small boat/trailer nothing major just your every day light duty. I tried to find a thread that has already discussed this but to no avail, so my appologies if this has already been discussed... I will buy a hummer, I'm just not sure which to go with... Hopefully a few of you long time owners can weight in on the subject and help me out. The I5 looks solid enough, but its hard to beat a V8, even though the power difference isn't so great. Any and all help would be appreciated...

I purchased the cheapest alpha listed on cargurus.com about two weeks ago. paid $23K w/ 28K miles (2008)

I'm very happy!

maybe you can find a cheaper one in good shape. Mine was great.

i was in a car accident and my insurance paid my loan off and gave me 5K cash..so i'm getting some goodies for the new rig

23K is cheap. If you are going to be towing get an Alpha.

Found an Alpha for $21k, but my only concern is it doesn’t have the adventure package... I did on the other hand find a H3 w/ the adventure package for $18.5k(and less miles), that entire drive train/suspension seems like a MAJOR bonus for the vehicle... Anyone that has actually bought a vehicle with or without the upgraded suspension/diffs want to chime in on whether its worth the downgrade from an alpha? And btw thanks to all those that replied to the initial post, was a very quick response time! Thanks again for the feedback, I'm excited and just don't want to screw it up, lol.

If you're towing 3,500 lbs or more, get the Alpha.

And then you can just give me whichever one you decide you don't want to keep.
