Default Air Suspension Problems

HELP!! First time on this board for me. I have an '05 H2 SUT and an '06 H3 and absolutely love them. However, my '05's air suspension has decided to "lay frame". It was normal one minute, deflated when I started it, and has been that way since. The switch in the bed does not turn the pumps on, but the pumps cycle 5 or 6 times when you start the truck. I'm sure the pumps themselves are working because the inflator outlet in the bed pressures up, it just doesn't inflate the air bags. FYI, it was parked facing uphill when this happened and I replaced the battery a couple of weeks ago (it was normal for a couple of weeks after the new battery). I have tried lifting the rear to check the airbags for leaks, but they do not even try to inflate. I was also told to lift it and disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the "service air suspension" code, but it did no good. Nearest dealer is 200 miles and I wouldn't take my son's go-kart to the local GM dealer.

Welcome from San Diego CA.

Check around in the forum. I have read a few issues like yours in the past few days. Mine I just replaced the bags. After 7 years and 85000 miles no issues at all.
knock on wood.
Good luck.

Dan,

PM me your contact info. I'll include you on the contact list for our next run in SoCal.

I've found a lot of info on the air suspension probs (bags leaking, pumps not working, etc), but none like mine (pumps cycle, pressurize the bed mounted tire inflator, but will not inflate the bags). I've pretty well decided to ditch the airbags, live with the "service air suspension" light, and mount a Ready Aire compressor in the stock location wired/plumbed to the in-bed panel. I'll post the results once it's done.

Lots of people are starting to ditch the air suspension when it fails and go for the stock set up. Lots cheaper.

Its no doubt cheaper to swap out to coil springs if the pump fails. But most of the time its a bag with a hole or a line not fitted correctly. I am pretty familiar with how the whole set up works and how to troubleshoot it. Let me know if you have not figured it out and I will help in any way I can.
