Default Air Docs air intake system

Hi:

I have an 08 Alpha with the.3l V8 engine

I am planning on purchasing one of the Air Docs air intake system. Looks like a great product

I was looking under the hood today to see what I need to do to remove the old air intake system.

The V8 has a cowl covering the throttle body unit and needs to be removed.

Question is how do you remove this in order to get to the throtle body unit to remove the factory air intake system.

Thanks much for your help

Regards

I had one on my 06 3.5 and I have one on my 08 3.7. The instructions included by Doc were very clear and easily understood. I am sure the one included with the one for the Alpha will be just as clear. Doc is a regular viewer of the forums and will likely get back to you. By the way it is a great product. You won't regret buying one.

All Air Doc intakes come with outstanding directions.

With that being said, I was DOCs Alpha test mule. I have removed the "cowl cover" gosh like 12 times (seems like 100). It' is very simple.

1. Remove your oil fill cap
2. Gently pull up on the cover, there are a few rubber bushings under the cover on either side attached to the cover that sit on posts comming off your engine/intake.
3. Once those are lose and you can tilt the cover up...PUT THE OIL FILLER CAP BACK ON!(trust me and DOC on this one!)
4. While the cover is tilted up, gently pull forward (toward the grill) and the rear rubber/plastic hinge thingy (technical term) will release.

Please be very careful if you are doing this on a cold engine, very cold + plastic and rubber= broken plastic (trust me on this one)

The rest is a piece of cake, you won't believe the strange looking thing that lurks under the cover.

No wonder DOCs intake made such a difference!

PS I borrowed these pix from DOCs site, I don't think he would mind since they are of my stuff!

Tainter....what kind of improvements in power and MPG have you experienced with the change?

I'll start off by saying that there is a noticeable seat of the pants difference when you open her up. Jump on the skinny pedal and she down shifts and really scoots! I only have the Air Doc Intake and a K&N and there is defiantly more power in the butt dyno. It also finally sounds like a V8. Great whoosh and low growl from under the hood.

As far as mileage? I also have 35s w/cranked Tbars. Well we got it on and gas dropped to $1.89. So I can't keep my foot off the skinny pedal. I drive 75-90mph on the highway and getting up to speed is more fun! Good news is that I'm still getting the same mileage I was before when I use to try and conserve gas!

Here are some other users reviews, hope this helps!

What Tainter said. It is just a big plastic cover, comes off and goes back on easy. Our H3A intake kit is just as easy, maybe easier, than the rest.

Yep, we got instructions!

can anyone tell me how does airdoc + stock replacement k&n filter compares to air intake system from k&n (part 57-3043). I do believe that air intake system adds something like 18 hp to 3.5 inline 5 (regular H3 engine)

If its comparible, I may actually go for this instead of k&n air intake filter setup.

Thank you.
