I have F&R flaps but they have limited effect on the crap slinging against the rear fender. The northern and western dudes who actually have rocks in their state rip them off on boulders sometimes. Here in FLA there's no such thing as rocks (except lime rock) so it's no big deal to off road with the flaps. Our biggest concern here is deep ball bearing sand, goopy slime mud, hidden deep water where you'd never expect it. Just in case you're wondering what ball bearing sand is, it looks like that white sand in an hour glass, has absolutely no adhesion even when wet and will set a truck with mudders on the frame in about 6 revolutions of the wheel.
