Default Is 9.7 MPG in a 2005 H2 with 100,000 miles Normal?

I purchased a used (Stock) 2005 Hummer H2 with 100,000 miles exactly 1 week ago and the day we bought it we Put enough gas in it so it would be 75% full. The computer said RANGE:415 miles. 2 days ago we filled it until it was full and it said RANGE:305 miles. I read on another thread on here that said that the Fuel Sensor might need to be replaced which could be a $700-$1000 fix. Does anyone know what it could be other than the fuel sensor?

Range is calculated from the current average mileage and the fuel remaining in the tank. As your mileage average changes so does the range. If most of your driving was city driving the 9.5 mpg is entirely possible. If most of your mileage is highway and depending on how you drive 12-13 mpg is normal. My 2003 H2 averaged about 10.4 mpg overall over 50K miles. My 2005 H2 SUT did about the same even though it had bigger tires and a roof rack.

I think what you did is perfectly normal for a new hummer driver. Your driving style will change over time and adjust to the size weight and performance characteristics till your getting the 12-14mpg everyone else gets. If you do a lot of highway you can get it back up to the 17mpg range.

I've owned my 04 H2 since 10/03 and I never got anywhere near 17 MPG ... I never even got 12 MPG. I've always hovered around 10.5 When I had my 35x18x12.50 TOYO's w/ my GOBI I got around 9.5
Now I'm about to throw on 37x18x13.50 TOYO's so I'm expecting low 9's

I went out and looked... Lynn's H2 is still hanging in there at 12.9 since I added the airdoc.
