4x4 lock
#11
I have a base 08 and I was contemplating getting a ARB rear locker. I do only light/ semi moderate offroading and I have never had problems so far without a locker but I dont want to regret it someday. Do the Adventure package H3's come with a separate button to lock the diff or is it just implemented into the 4hi/4low lock buttons? If I get a locker installed, how will it work? Do I need a switch installed or does it automatically work when it needs to, sorry im very new to 4x4's.

The ARB locker is a "air locker". It uses compressed air to move the internal locking portion of the differential. It uses a seperate compressor to do this. The adventure pkg uses a electric solenoid to accomplish the same thing. There are seperate switches to engague the locker in 4WD low. They are not automatic. You can do a lot without a locker. Careful driving and picking the right line by a good driver can easily out do poor driving technique. Study the situation and work on your driving first. Once you get the hang of it and start to expand your horizions it would probably be the easist if you installed a factory e-locker. ARB's are great, but the e-locker is good also. The biggest advantage is you dont need a seperate air compressor (although the larger ARB compressor can inflate your tires).
