Default 3rd Row Seating Headrest Monitor Install !!

Hi guys,
I've just finished installing the headrest monitor in the second row, so that the passenger in the boot (6th seat) can watch their own TV screen and thought i'd share how i did it encase anyone's interested.

When i bought the Hummer, the front passenger headrest screen was cracked so i bought a new one from ebay. The new one came with the monitor and the headrest cushion, so once i replaced the cracked headrest, i had a spare headrest sitting around doing nothing.

I took this old broken headrest apart and removed the screen. This is very easy to do by unclipping the leather at the base of the headrest, putting a flat-head screwdriver between the monitor and the headrest and levering it out. The monitor is only secured to the headrest by an adhesive.
Once the monitor is out, it reveals 4 screws, which when undone, loosens the metal base from the headrest. The metal base secures the two metal stems to the headrest.
once removed it will all look like this:

Next came the task of replacing the old cracked hummer screen. The whole idea was to keep the costs down to an absolute minimum and as the replacement vizualogic hummer screens are £150 on ebay, i decided to go with an aftermarket monitor.
This monitor was around £20 from ebay which is exactly what i wanted. It is 7inches, colour and fits like a glove intot he headrest cushion.

Once the new monitor was pressed into place, it was very secure and there was no need to glue, screw or fasten it into place.

I spliced into the existing wiring (located under the centre console armrest) of the headrest monitors, which i had wired up myself previously and ran the new wires underneath the carpet to the second row of seating.
The carpet had to be cut with a stanley knife for this but it is not noticable.
Once the wiring reaches the bench, it can be fed through the back of the 2nd row seat back very easily and up to the top.

At the moment, the headrest cushion is "placed" ontop of the existing stems of the original headrest which remained in place once i'd removed it.
Although it is not fully secured to the stems yet, the headrest is fairly sturdy and will not come off the stems easily.
Eventually i will use a filler or glue to secure the headrest to the stems.

hey presto, now wherever you sit in the hummer, you can watch a dvd.

Encase anyone was worried about voltage drop and not being able to run a few headrest monitors from one power and AV source, I am currently running 4 monitors from the same power source,

I hope this helps anyone who wants to do something similar.

Thanks
Niall
