The design which changed the controls location happened during the 2007 production run.
All 2006 and early 2007's had the controls on the flat. Later 2007's, 2008's, and 2009's had the new design with the controls on the slant. So that gives you more choices from a wrecking yard.

I had heard that the wiring to the controls is too short to reach the new location, on the slant, but an adaptor/extension harness is available. Reportedly that extension harness was used during the 2007 run when they changed over to the new design.

I looked into this and immediately noticed that the harness was too short.
I bought my 07 H3 in January 07, it has the flat window controls
I doubt any of us on the forum would ever had made that mistake at production time, sic.

 

I'm too used to reaching over with my right arm to hit the door buttons, don't even need to look or think about it. At this point after 3 years, a normal door panel would mess me up now! LOL

 

My 2007 was built in July.
It has the controls on the slant.
