Default 2008 H3 5cyl Radiator Replacement

Hello all. I need to replace the Rad in my 2008, H3 5cyl. I did some searching on here and never could find a decent post to explain the ins and outs of replacing this part. How difficult is it? Any hiddend issues I should look for? I have put lots of Rads in but never messed with a Hummer before.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome. If you have done radiator R&Rs before, the H3 is about as simple as it gets. Take a look.

If you have not done a radiator in a long time, it is still easy, but done a little different than the days of yesteryear.

No radiator drain, you remove the lower radiator hose to drain the coolant. A round hose clamp pliers and fan clutch wrench will make it a breeze.

Once the fan is off, you can slide the shroud up out of the truck by removing the radiator end of the upper hose, then you will see there are a top center and top each side mounts that need to be unbolted after the trans cooler lines (at the bottom) are disconnected to lift the radiator out.

Good luck.

Most excellent. Thank you for the pics as well. I am assuming the Trans coolant lines are held in with the standard GM E-lock clips?

What was wrong with your old radiator? I am asking because a lot of us are having cracks near the top of the radiator caused by the frame.

Same deal ego. Leaking around the top. I bought a replacement online for 215.00 I figure if it's going to go every 4 years, I'm not spending 600 for a dealer item.

Do you need a special too. To remove the transmission cooler liner or just the 3/4 inch wrench?
