Is there a difference between the 2006 Hummer H3 3.5l and the 2006 Chevy Colorado 3.5l?

I need to do an engine swap on my hummer and the engines on the colorado are much cheaper...

I was wondering what the difference are and anything I would need to swap to complete the job...

I'm not an expert but i've read the Hummer L52 is more refined and better prepared for off roading than the one in the Colorado although being the same engine (if i'm wrong please correct myself)... I don't know exactly what they improved, but if it's cheaper and money is an important factor I'd give it a try to the Colorado's...

And if money isn't a problem, why not consider a similar engine with better performance? like a new GM V6 LLT or LY7...

 

The Atlas 3.5L L52 is the same motor, put in Collys/Canyons, Isuzu i-350 (Rodeo and Pick up) and H3s. Identical in every respect. You will need to reprogram the PCM for the replacement motor Vin #.

Watch the serial number VERY CLOSELY!!!! The L52s built before March 31, 2006 had defective valve seals... The S/Ns affected is any # lower than 287591 ... most have probably been corrected with a head replacement, but not all of those.
