Is this 2006 H3 a good deal???
I was hoping to get some opinions here. I have the opportunity to buy a 2006 H3 white fully loaded. Ebony/Morocco leather, Adventure package, navigation, sunroof, last 6 of vin 318201, and only 60k miles. I did a rally good once over and found no signs of known issues. It was originally a lease from Laguna Nigel in So.Ca. so I sure it was house wife's pedicure taxi. Used car dealer will let me take it to a GM mechanic next week when I am off of work. Want them to do a complete inspection. He is asking 17,000 but I am sure he will take 16,000. Any thoughts????

STAY AWAY FROM THE '06 MODEL YEAR. They are riddled with defects, recalls, and design flaws, as all new cars are the first year they are out. Go for an '07. An example of just 2 issues with the '06: the aluminum engine headers warp under heat, and the axels wear down infinitely faster because of negligant manufacturing. There are also a host of electrical problems. Go '07+.

I have owned an 06 Lux and 08 Lux and now a 2010 Alpha/Offroad. The head problems were on a specific group due to using a too soft material on the heads. The plastic shift fork was a problem but it was also in some of the 07's. If the head didn't fall into the VIN range or it had been replaced with an updated one and the shift fork had been replaced, I WOULD NOT HESITATE to own another 06 providing it was in good shape and had not been abused. I totally enjoyed the vehicle the 6 months I had it before it was totaled.

stollo770 - This is a late model year '06, purchased new June of '07. Probably one of the last of the '06 made. By coincidence it was from a friend of a relative who we bought it from. She is 72 and works at Irvine Medical center. Freeway miles from Fullerton and every service receipt from Tustin Cadillac at 5,000 miles. They even have the trans serviced at 50,000 and 100,000. Fully loaded but no GPS. Only thing I did was add new rims, installed the front grill off-road lights from the factory, Bilstien 5100 shocks, K&N cold air intake, and Gibson cat back exhaust. I did crank the TB to raise the front 1.5" to level it out. We have spent a few weekends up in Big Bear already running some of the easier trails.

I have an 06 lux with 169000 km and it hasn't had a head issue or anything in the drivetrain. I believe everything else is going now bit with that many miles on there is alot that is gonna be due anyway. But i don't regret it. It isbin good shape as well and loaded accept the nav. Six disc monsoon instead.
