Yea. My feels very vague, won't track straight and clunks on ocassion. Of course the dealer never hears, feels, or otherwise experiences anything

The clunking I think is a GM trade mark :-) My -02 Avalanche sounded pretty much the same as my -03 H2.. with roughly the same amount of play in it .. personally I have no issues with it but yeah, like SD said, it does have a lil bit of "play" in it which of course can be irritating to some ...

my steering was crap when i had a bad intermediate steering shaft. also crap when the gear on my steering box was worn down to almost smooth. with those items replaced, and a fresh pitman arm on the bus, my steering is **** now, tight as a duck's butt. a little more info would be helpful concerning what you don't like about your steering, otherwise we're all just fishin' in the dark.

the clunking was the intermediate shaft, which may be a trademark, but i don't have it anymore.

Do you mean when you turn to sharp.. On my 04 Dodge ram1500 in my 4x4, if we turn tosharp it hops a little bit, and it's hard ont he trick but in Canada not much else you can do with our disgusting roads.

On occasion when I back my 05 out of my driveway, it feels as though I don't have any power steeringwhen I put it in Drive and begin to pull forward. This isn't the tires "fighting a slowturn". It's a complete absence of any power assist whatsoever. Naturally, when I take it to the dealer, they can't get it to do it. Hopefully, when I have NO power steering, they'll be able to detect it.

I haven't experienced thison my '06 H2 (steering is responsive and problem-free), but I did experience the clunking sensation on my former'00 Ford 'Explorer XLT' (sounded as if something was shifting) whilst movingslowly in reverse with the steering wheel turned sharply in either direction. one post and you're done? that's it? no description of what you're not impressed with? no details to help those that may have experienced the same thing help you pinpoint the problem? based on what you've shared, i'd say your front wheel will be falling off soon. but don't worry, it only happens at slow speeds, so any injuries will be minor. . . . . . freakin' canadiennes . . . . .[>:]
