Default 03 Tach whacked

Went to the dealer today, the TACh is reading about 2K high. Thsi started after a long sprited hiway run.

Anyway...

The dealer ordered a new cluster and will install next week, lucky for me I have a $100 bumper to bumper so I get new GM lifetime parts everytime something checks out. I have been exercising my warranty frequently (before it runs out in about a year)
two weeks ago I got a whole new AC, evap, comp, fan, controller, tube, and inside outside air flapper deal for $100
The down side... I had to drive a volvo for 3 days... yuk

The moral of the story:
If you buy a H2 from a GM dealer pay for the extended B2B, it will easily pay for itself.

My 03 had the same issue with the speedo. The problem is the stepper motors. There are several companies that will replace the stepper motors and reprogram. You have to remove the bezel, pack it up and ship to them. Mine took 3 days from Houston to Conn. and back. Hummer can still be driven, you just wont know your speed for a few days. Process is very simple to do. I had them replace all my stepper motors and it cost 115.00 plus 10.00 shipping, my hummer dealer wanted 1500.00.

mine has been doing it for almost a year. when it starts reading off, just turn off your car and then back on. each time the speedometere will drop 5 mph. i just do it to 0 and sometimes it will last for a few months.

I replaced all the stepper motors on the cluster and it was easy if you know how to solder and desolder (using solder wick). This is a common problem with GM. Theres a lot of DIYs on this issue.

Default Ebay

I purchases a repair for mine on ebay, cost me $50 + $15 Shipping, and was out of my H2 for only 3 days. Works great now, no issues at all.
