2003 Bose Amp

2003 Bose Amp
My radio is not working and the dealer tested everything and said it was the amp. They told me the part number I needed was 15112662 and it is a one year only amp ($600). Has anyone else had this problem and is there another option I can go with aftermarket? I took it to the local stereo shop and he told me that even if I get a new radio we still need that amp for the Bose speakers. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I haven't messed with the 2's radio system unfortunately. Bose stuff is typically all tuned to work together. That's why it sounds so damn good! You could try pulling the stock amp and seeing what the specs are on it and looking for an aftermarket amp with similar specs. Other than that, aftermarket is the other option for everything.

Here is my experience with Bose....
It is good for a stock factory system upgrade, but its crap in comparison to a cheap aftermarket setup.
With that said, I am not an expert on the H2... but I can say that I had a 300zx with a Bose and it did the same thing.
Everything in the car went through the amp before hitting the speakers. When you look at the components they are just cheap crap... but as it was said before they are matched and tuned so it is better for stock.
Now understand it isnt that this stereo setup will only work with its matching Bose componants as much as it is the connections and wiring that are a pain in the ****.
Once you figure out the wiring colors, everything can be easily replaced. Basically I had an issue with the speakers with the individual crossovers on them.... I pulled the speakers, replaced with something cheap from walmart, straight wired everything and it sounded AMAZING. A 80 dollar fix that out performed the 400 dollar fix Nissan said it would take to get the speakers.
Plus for the 600 dollars you would spend on the factory amp, you can get a complete cheap system system and put it in your rig and be EXTREMELY happy with it.
(in fact most people dont realize that just a subwoofer added will make a stock system sound incredible since the mids and highs are the only things that should be played out of components, and bass shouldnt be played since bass is what distorts and thats what causes most stereos to sound bad)

You may be able to replace the amp for around $250ish. There are 2 basic radio/amp setups.
Lux and Non-lux in GM. Its tricky with the Hummer, and I haven't exactly figured it out yet.
If you can get me the radio PN you have, Id be able to help you more.
Here is a little lite reading, but again, this applies to trucks mostly.
I have the Y91 code, but premium amp and non-lux nav. Go figure.
