20,000 on my Cooper STT's
I just rolled 20k over on my Coopers... Measured only 1/4 to 5/16's rubber missing off the tires on the ground compared to the spare which is still new. I have rotated them every 5 - 6,000 miles and love them... I would not hesitate to buy another set and looks like I'll get at least the 60k out of them the seller stated. He had 45k on a set of them on his personal truck and they looked like they were only 1/2 life. Here's a few pics.

it's probably too late now for you, but since we have a full size spare, it's best to incorporate it in the rotation

To this...and even it come from tirerack....I say only following:
I started my Mech. engineer carrier at a Mercedes work shop in Germany and if I would swap tires like this...my carrier would have ended that time as well!
A little bit vinegar and olive oil and you get a nice salat!
Yeah one thing is sure...like this you will need more tires!
And: Rotating means also additional balancing!
-> Better for business!

My uncle is a mechanic (thank god he is not an engineer ) and rotates his tires about every 3-4K, he got 90K miles out of his last set of tires. Yes that is crazy, but rotation extends the life of your tires big time.
I NEVER rotate in the spare, when it's time for new tires, you buy 3, put the spare in as the 4th, and then put the best used tire on as the spare. There are pleanty of technical articles on why not to cross rotate radial tires, I choose to follow those and don't usually ever need balancing.

I agree with Doc. I have always rotated my tires and gotten excellent milage on them. The front tires wear faster than the rear on most vehicles. And in some cases they wear differently on different corners. Without rotating you will be buying fronts a lot faster than rears and you also end up with off rd. tires sometimes. An old girlfriend ruined a two tires on a frt wheel drive pontiac for not rotating for a long time. The rears got out of round and when I rotated them to the frt when I found out the car bounced all over the road. they were out of round, (rear end was very light) I took them to get balanced and they coudln't balance them. I bought her two new tires, put them on the frt and put the ones that were on the frt. on the rear. dumped her a year later... diff story...

Ok...we are talking about Hummers and so it would be now senseless to talk about friction and traction on the road.....the first thing that tires should provide....not even wear.
That tires wear differnt is also correct...usually front more the sides....the rear more in the center (RWD). But most people forget that mainly a wrong tire pressure ruins your tires.
And a tire what gets out of round...has nothing to do with rotation...is just poor quality....bumping over boardwalks...or too many burn outs...or once a full braking (even with ABS possible!)
Ha...if this would be truth, then all sports cars would suffer from this as they usually have differnt rims&tires on the two axels...!!!

I have the STT's on my H1. I ran them on my H2 also. I have over 35k on them and 4 trips to Moab. They are a very good tire on and off road. As far as rotating them I have a couple of times mainly because the edges wear more from turning and I try to keep a more squared off edge on the front. I will buy more.
