1997 vs 2000 H1
I am trying to decide on purchasing a 1997 H1 or a 2000 H1. I have driven both from the lot but having a hard time deciding. The 1997 actual drove better than the 2000 but the brakes took both feet to make a stop. The 2000 was much noiser than the 1997 but ha no brake issue. I will be using this for a daily drive most in town but do want to taking on the hunting trails.
Does anyone have a reccomedation on which would be a better buy?
1997 has 95K miles and is a diesel they are asking $32K
2000 has 4 mile and is also a diesel and they are asking $42K
Any and all advice is appreciated.
thanks in advance

I'm betting they both have turbo-diesels, and TT-4 blows if you are going to wheel it. Sounds like a problem with the brakes in the '97. If it's a 97.5 (vin# VE176477 and higher) there are few changes (plus the abs/tt4) from a 2000. The newer model might make a better dd.

97 has a turbo diesel also. TT4 in the 2000 is the worst they installed. AMG improved it over the years and the 2002+ trucks TT4 works much better. If the 97 hasn't had the HVAC upgrade then that is a plus for the 2000. For a wheeling truck I would definitely go for the 97. For a DD I agree with Ron, the 2000 might be better.
