Default 08 h3 new owner 1 issue.

hey guys,

just bought myself a 08 h3 for 20k with 30k miles. car is mint no issues other then it needs a alignment. but, the warning light popped on and says "serv tpms" so i instantly knew it was a tire pressure sensor issue. read the manual and i found out that the passenger front tire wont relearn (wont beep at all). so i tried fooling the car into using the spare as the passenger front tire so i went driver front, then spare, then passenger rear, the driver rear. all 4 beeped, started her up went for a drive and the lights turned off. however today the light came back on same one serv tpms. so, my question is, do i need relearn all 4 tires including spare or does it only learn 4? if it only learns 4 then i have no clue why it came back on. kinda stumped. i am bringing the car back to dealer and they are going to replace the sensor but i am curious as to why it came back on when everything was fine.

The 08's did not have a sensor in the spare. I think just the 06's and early 07's. Check the valve stem. If it is rubber it does not have one.

ok so the spare does not have a tpms i see that because the rubber valve is black not metal like the rest. the problem lies that the spare is the tire thats on the passenger front. the tire thats on the spare mount in the back is actually the front passenger tire, therefore it has the tpms. so, how can i fix this issue? i relearned them yesterday and it worked. but today its back on? why?

My 08 has a sensor in the spare. Just had to have it replaced as the dealer had put a nitro fill metal cap on valve stem and when I tried to check air pressure it had corroded onto the stem.

Did you actually mount the spare on the front or just try to make the truck relearn it while leaving as a spare? I would say to try mounting the spare where you think you have a defective sensor as the spare is not monitored while on the rear door. Also after rotating my tires it took a few drives before the service tpms went off.

They go bad after time...they have internal batteries like watch batteries. Look online and get a new set....a local tire place can break the bead and replace them at minimal cost. Cheapest to get them on e-bay...local stores will charge you up to $100/ea

You need to get 4 tires on the ground with working sensors.
