Exclamation 07 idle issue- PLEASE HELP!

I have on 07 H3 5-speed with 138k miles (highway). I love it and it has always ran great. Last year it started a rough idle when breaking (4-500rpms then back to normal quickly). It pulled a code for a cam positioning sensor. I read up on it here and cleaned the intake. This did fix it but I never had the code cleared. About 2 months later it started the same thing again. My wife and I are about to have a baby. I really don't want to pay for a pricey engine repair if it's the head so as much as I love it I'm debating on trading it in on an another. Can't really afford a bigger payement or an engine replacement so I'd like to get it diagnosed as soon as possible. I really need some opinions! The h3 is my favorite vehicle I've ever owned, I hope it's nothing major. Thanks!

I do not know what you mean by "cleaned the intake"?, but you might want to look at this recent question I answered. Throttle Body cleaning is routine maintenance for fuel injected vehicles.

Sorry intake was a bad term. I cleaned everything starting at the throttle body and out to the filter then replaced the filter. There was noticeable gunk in the throttle body but I don't see how after 2 months it got clogged again. I'm just worried it's something else becuase the code it pulled

Did you remove the TB and clean the throttle plate bypass (ie from the intake manifold side)?

@ 137K, it may just be that the cam positioning sensor needs to be replaced. $25-$40 depending on where you get the part.

It's not a hard thing to do. First time is always a little P.I.T.A. but no special tools.

And would it be the same for my 07 I5

Had it compression tested just to make sure nothing major was wrong. It came up fine, they pulled off the throttle body and cleaned everything. Problem fixed
