Default 07 Catalytic Converter failure

Long time no see.... I bought my 07 H2 with 8 miles on it from Nucar in New Castle DE in February 2007 and it now has 69k on it. The check engine light came on last week and I took it to a local shop and the computer reading had failures all over the place. They replaced the MAS and cleaned the fuel injectors and still had failure readings. They checked all kinds of things and finally it was towed to Nucar. Nucar initially said the catalytic converters were bad and it was covered under the 8 year/80k warranty. When they started to work on it they discovered both cats were clogged. They then said it only had a 5 year/5k warranty on it. It was towed back to my local shop who could replace the cats cheaper. I called Hummer to argue Nucar's initial 8 yer/8k statement and the rep said it was 5/5 for my 07. They offered me a discount on a new hummer but I just bought an H3 a few months ago and don't need a 3rd hummer..LOL .. He asked what I wanted, I said $1200 to pay for the cats. He said he would offer me 2 years of free oil changes and tire rotations. I asked for new tires since they are the originals and he held his guns at the oil changes. He only offered this after I said I was going to check with the EPA. I did not agree to his deal and its still on the table but was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and or offer from Hummer? thanks

Lets assume you get 4 oil changes a year using synthetic oil at appx $100 an oil change...4 tire rotations at the low end of $30 per rotation...so per year that is $520 in savings...X2 is $1040 for the two years compared to your $1200 for the new cats.....if you cant get any better I would take it...in writting. If they agree to that than you basically have your new cats for less than a couple hundred bucks...

All in all its not a bad deal but I would prefer them to just replace the cats and win you as a customer to come back for the other things that willl need to be done.....

In your owners manual it will state the length of the emissions warranty. I thought all cars had a 8 year 80k warranty on the cat and the ECM.

Smile Catalytic converters wholesale prices

There is a place on the internet to buy Cats at a fraction of the cost. The manufacturing plant by mistake added an additional digit in the serial /part number. So these cats are considered defective/irregular auto parts.
example, 023 X019 = Teneco Catalytic Converters serial # sequence
023 019 = competitors Catalytic Converters serial # sequence

Yea, this is what I thought too, my local GM dealership here in Canada told me 8yr/130,000km on my 03 H2, so as long as your mileage is good, you should be able to get it under warranty.

Good luck,
