Default Kelly Blue Book - H3T

So every now and then I do a blue book value for 2009 H3T. I was wondering from all the Hummer owners out there, if you were to sale or even trade in your H3T, would you request more than kelly blue book based on the Hummer line, especially the H3T now being a "hard to find??" vehicle or would you be happy to get whatever the blue book value of your T?

Today when i did the quote i got approx 21K for dealer trade in and approx 23K for straight sale myself.

H3T details
2009
65K miles
Adventure Package
Good Condition
Automatic
Grill Guard
Toyo Open Country Tires (35's)
PCM Tune
Basic everything else but kept in good condition.

As a hard to find vehicle with a limited group of potential buyers, I'd say it depends on how quickly you want to sell it. At any given time you may be the only only one selling an H3T within 100 miles, or there might not be anyone looking to buy one within 100 miles. I think the Adventure package helps a lot more than the $1,000-$1,500 KBB value, but that might just be my personal bias in that I wouldn't buy one at all without the lockers.

Price it low and you can bring in buyers from out of the area or price it high and wait for the right local buyer to come along.

Not only do you have to take kelly blue book value but you need to take in consideration loan value that the bank will issue. This is important because when you get into the high teens and twenty's you have eliminated most cash purchases. The bank will only loan so much so this is also a good reference as to true value of the net worth. If you overprice based on speculation it better be a super special one of a kind to justify price and then as stated earlier expect to sit on it for that special person to come along.

KBB is only a reference guide for vehicle sale price. With the H3Ts being as rare as they are I use sites like autotrader.com and cars.com as my gauge for the value of our rigs. Throw out the ridiculously high and super low and find an average.

Don't count on any of the modifications you have made earning you extra $ on the sale. In most cases it will hurt the price unless you find that one person who is looking for those exact modifications. We keep all of the OEM parts to return them back go stock for better resale. If you are not getting another HUMMER you can sell the mods on sites like this or craigslist and recover more $ than you would get selling them with the rig.

On our 5th & 6th H3/H3T and it has worked for us.

I think the number of H3Ts sold in the US is so low that the book values are badly skewed by the beaters and salvage trucks sold cheap at auction. When only a handful of a rare model like H3T are transacted each month, one salvage sale pulls everyone's value down a lot in the "books" like KBB. Secondly, pricing and selling are two different things. Third, the spread between KBB and the other "books" can be 10%.

As one who's been shopping for an H3T for months, I can say that I have yet to see a decent one offered close to book value. All are priced way above book, except the very high mileage trucks. I've offered a couple dealers an even trade of my 2010 Rubicon for an H3T of lower book value and the dealers blew me off big time.
