I have a line on an '09 H3T Alpha for a good price. It's a 180k one-owner well maintained clean history vehicle. Current/previous owners, what are your thoughts on buying it? I'm not asking about price, as I'm not worried about that. I'm more interested in cost of ownership type details. What are the most prominent problems with a 3T with that type of mileage? It would be my knocking around vehicle...only 4-5k miles per year, so it's not like I'm going to run the miles up fast.

 

Value depends upon which H3T Alpha you are talking about, with Alpha Off Road (rock crawler T Case and Lockers front and rear) being the top.

How much does it cost to own a 4X4 Silverado at the same miles?

If you get in a wreck, finding the back/bed body parts is going to be very difficult. Otherwise, its a 5.3L LH8 (LS family) with 4L60E Trans. Power steering reservoirs are discontinued.

If the AT has not been recently rebuilt, you'll be the guy tacking that on.

 

It all depends on the condition of the FRAME. Poke around the frame from the rear door all the way back.

From the rear of the front door back the H3T is it's own animal. Most replacement parts 9besides suspension and a few odds and ends) can only be found in scrap/junk yards.

*I do also have an entire storage area dedicated to HUMMER H3/H3T parts I have accumulated since 2007. That being said and as a H3T Alpha owner myself I would not hesitate to own another.

 

If it's well-maintained, 180k might not be too bad for occasional use.
