In search of a chrome H3 Fuel Door
Thought I'd post in case anyone has an extra Hummer H3 chrome fuel door laying around.
GM OEM part #19165921.
The one on my 2007 has disintegrated at the bottom and I'd really like another with the Hummer name on it.
GM parts photo attached.
Thanks.

They were discontinued a long while back. You will see them on Ebay once in a while, expect to pay $425+ for a new one. I happen to have a brand new one in my parts collection (which is not for sale) that I nabbed off Craig's List couple years back.
Or, you can do what I did. Go to a local Pick N Pull and buy the entire rear fender flare from a wrecked H3 that has a good condition OEM Fuel Door on it for about $145 and transfer that fuel door to your hummer. Then sell the rear fender flare.
The other option is car-part.com to track one down, but most probably look like what you already have, or have pealing etc.... unless you find one from a southern truck.
You could also bead blast your current door and refinish it in black or body paint.... I have an old beat up one that I intend to play with when I have time someday. Those fake hex screw rivet thingies will need to be replaced as well.
Good luck.

I also have a brand new one still in the box (which is not for sale) that the mechanic at the Hummer dealer I go to, had it laying around and said "here, do you want this?" My original one looks like the day it came out of the factory. I drilled out those "fake hex screw rivet thingies" and replaced them with real "screw rivet thingies" that were stainless steel and I polished them on my buffing wheel to look just like chrome. Then I installed some rivnuts in the mating black plastic backing plate. Now, every Winter I just unscrew it, stick it in box until Spring and screw in a custom trim ring I made out of ABS. It looks factory and has worked perfectly. The whole change-over process takes about 5 minutes.

That was a killer good idea! Amazing how our MI road salt just tears shtuff up in the winter.
Instead of doing the fuel door swap, I just park the fuel door on the driveway for the winter with the Alpha attached to it when the roads are bad and drive a beater.

Nice work Broken Halo! My fuel door looks mummified, yet, someday I will restore it. Imo, missing the door appears sabotaged.
