Default Oil Light Issue

Hello, I own a Hummer h3 2007, recently, I’ve an issue where when I press the brakes the oil light comes on. If I’m on the gas, it won’t come on at all, but as soon as I hit the brakes it comes on. I would assume it’s an oil pump issue, if so, should I just get a replacement pump or is there some way I could upgrade it? From what I’ve found so far it seems to be a fairly common problem. Any help, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

It is not a common problem and you need to supply a bunch more information for us to help.

Like miles, any recent work before the oil light started to turn on, miles since last oil change, is the oil level full, is there any water in the oil, does your H3 smoke when you start it??????

Agreed.
Year
Model
Miles
Current work or past work done
Have you made certain the oil is at correct level
Have you checked the screens on the CSA (cam shaft actuator)
Oil burning
etc...

if the oil pressure is also low your oil pickup tube o-ring can be bad. but it can be as simple as you are low on oil. or your oil pump has a stuck return spring.

It has roughly 130,000 miles on it, it doesn’t smoke at all, I had the oil changed about 2 weeks ago, the oil level is maybe a couple centimeters over full, the light had been coming on before I got the oil changed, same situation, only when I sit on the breaks, so I thought it was low oil or needed to be changed but that hasn’t fixed the problem

You can find my notes on this in one of the other Oil Light threads. I published my progression to fix
- Oil light came on while foot on brake at red light
- If I put it in neutral and reved it up a little it went off
- changed oil pressure switch- no help, in fact the newer more sensitive switch made it worse, the oil light was on much more
- I just had my oil changed too. However, I still replaced the conventional Oil with Synthetic
- Used a WixXP Oil filter
- Got my throttle body cleaned
1.5months and no more oil light

Hope this helps
