multiple problems/ overheating = gas in oil??
Bought a 2007 H3X just over a month ago. Previous owner apparently rebuilt engine after timing nightmare. Was driving home and get message on dash "ENG HOT AC OFF". Coolant temp was in the red. Was steaming like crazy.
Pulled over on side of the highway. Probably should have, but didn't think to run heater. Had it towed home. Somehow pulled over right in front of a Chevy dealer, which helped find a tow driver. Could have bought coolant from them but didn't feel safe to drive 40+ miles home. This H3 has never shown signs of wanting to overheat; always running just over the half mark on temp gauge.
Long story short, have it towed home. It has sat for about two weeks unfortunately. Bought parts for it a few days ago (coolant pressure test kit, thermostat, rad cap). Just out of curiosity, I checked the dip stick. It smells like gas. Strongly. Is this a part of overheating? I have not noticed a gas smell before the incident. If I change the oil and filter (and fix whatever the overheating issue is), am I good to go? I'm a little scared to drive it to the backyard to work on it. I believe the oil is not overfull, but I'll check again today. I've never seen a dipstick like the Hummers!
Thanks,

if gas is mixing with oil you most likely have a bad injectors pissing fuel into the intake. amazon injectors are usually fake even if they say they are original. the deal wont be one when you have to purchase them all over again from the dealer.

connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and watch to see how fast it loses pressure. then you would have to check which injector is the one leaking. either with a "pull a spark plug and sniff and or check for wetness" after a fuel system prime. a borescope in the cylinder checking for wetness, or pull the fuel assembly from the intake side leaving the fuel rail connected and the injectors with there safety clips intact and watch them as you prime the fuel pump.
