Default mile marker free spool not so free

I have a BA bumper with a Mile Marker winch. The free spool seems very tight. It takes two people pulling very hard to get cable off of the drum. Has any others had this problem ? The way it is now it is easier to power out when I need to pull out cable.

mine crapped out before I had the chance to free spool it if memory serves correct... do you still have the roller fairlead on it? is it spooled under or over?

Yes on the original roller fairled and it is spooled under
