Lumen LED lights
hey Everyone, just wondering if anyone has tried the LED lights by lumen? I replaced my stock bulbs with the sylvania ultra stars, and while there is a difference, they still are not great for distance...

I am not quite sure what you mean?
Do you mean a replacement bulb for the H13 but in LED and not halogen ?
The only bulb that I have heard of for cars is a replacement for fog light bulbs and it only puts out about 310 lumens. That is considerably less light than a typical halogen for that purpose.
Do you know someone making an H13 in LED ?

your best bet would be to go with HID bulbs if you're wanting significantly brighter headlights. LED bulbs are not going to emit enought, with our reflectors in the housing, to be able to see more than a few feet in front of you. I know there are some led headlights out there in the world but they are not that great in my opinion. there is a reason that automakers are only using them for decoration really and still running hid projector lights, the technology and pricing just aren't to that point yet, give it a few years.

yes here they are
LUMEN® - Hummer H3 2006-2010 Daytime Running Light LED Bulbs
I would love to do HID's, but everyone I talk to, say they are illegal.

There is a big difference in the two.
The STARR system is not cheap, but any of us who have them are happy with them.
Those LED replacement don't seem very bright, even at 410 Lumens and they keep talking about them replacing the DRL's.

That is correct, any HID system in a reflector housing is illegal. That is also the reason all HID kits somewhere will say "For Offroad Use Only"
However you can be pulled over for crazy colored HID's as they cause a distraction to other drivers.
Using a 4300-8000k (55watt for 8k) will produce a clean white light and really wouldn't look any different than any aftermarket halogen bulbs.
Reason they are illegal in reflector housings is due to the amount of glare they throw off. The light beam from an HID capsule bends towards the top while the filament of a halogen is horizontal in the reflector.
