Help needed on H3 OEM GPS
Hello all. I have had my H3 Alpha for about 11 years. It came with the OEM GPS. About one or two years ago, the unit occasionally had difficulties in reading the map DVD. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. It got worse and worse and finally it shows "CD Error" permanently. I knew that to retrieve the DVD the Eject button should be pressed for 10-12 seconds and the screen will tilt and open, then the hidden DVD slot will show up. I did this successfully before. However now I can only hear some mechanical noises for about 3 seconds after pressing the "Eject". Nothing happened and the screen didn't tilt. So my disc is trapped inside the unit (behhind the screen). Spent a lot of time googling the problem on all GM cars' forums while no luck. Will highly appreciate if anyone can advise! Really love my H3 and hate to see this happening. I am talking about the GPS map DVD not the music CD, which works fine. Thanks!

My guess is, the original Nav is giving up the ghost, has one foot in the grave, ready to kick the bucket, played its last cards, riding off into the sunset......
You could try an updated GPS map DVD, but why throw money at a dinosaur? If I need directions, I have this thing called a phone.
Good news is, time for a brand new upgrade.
