Hows your overdrive? Does it ever slip/downshift for a second?
I had a shop change my transmission fluid over a year ago. A week after that I noticed my reverse would cut power and overdrive would slip at highway speeds very often.
I dropped the pan and removed the filter, noticed there was no seal on the filter!!
Replaced it and it worked fine.
Good luck!

Check this post first. https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...g-wheel-29577/

If that's not it, check back and let us know. Plus, you will want to tell us the model year, mileage and last 8 of the VIN to check if it is an 06-07 shift fork issue.

dont you think it would run without the filter?why would the seal cause trouble? in just a week?

seems the fork would cause trbl driving huh?, just like being in lock mode?

I'm not an expert on transmissions but I believe when the transmission was under load the fluid would leak from the seal back into the oil pan, and not lubricate the gears as intended. Causing slippage and wear.

how can the fluid flow at the same rate with a missing or loose seal? The filter is the pickup and the transmission relies on fluid pressure to operate properly..

did you see my earlier post? about running with no filter. not a good idea but it should work. I think the system sucks fluid up thru the filter, THEN the pump makes pressure. if the filter was gone or the seal gone it would work.

I think the seal makes sure all the juice goes thru the filter, but im no xpert.

oops,im thinking of a tranny I worked on with a filter on the lowest point!. it looks like this one is an extension down into the fluid in the pan. it looks like the seal IS above the level of juice huh?? that doesn't seem likely though??,since the gears need to be in the juice for lube.

??? still thinking on this,,,!

oh, since it drains when you looseb the pan, the seal has to be under the juice. it has to be high up in the tran body.
look at the manual.

Gears in pan? The valve body.

I don't see it operating properly without filter/tight seal.

pan holds at least 4qts
drain & fill is 5qts..

Fluid pressure @ idle: P/N/D--- 70psi ... R----140psi
Fluid pressure @wot: 190psi +++

You would think the fluid would at some time fall BELOW the pump port, causing air/low pressure?
