Maybe it might help if the diameter was larger and more air could be drawn in. But I don't think straightening out a few curves will accomplish anything. Now,changing the air filter to a less restrictive one can be a plus because your allowing the engine to breath better and allowing more air to enter the motor.

PM Doc Olds; he'll explain everything. The way the intake is designed, it's to keep thigns very quiet. The intake goes all over the engine bay to dish the noise out. The airdoc is supposed to be highly sought and appraised. Ask Doc himself.

This message wes sent to Doc. I'll let you know about his responce.

"We are in a discussion about weather or not the Air Doc tube does anything to improve engine performance. I'm very sceptical as to its benefits. Could you enlighten me in this matter. And do you have any proof like Dyno sheets to prove it's beneficial values? Thanks.. Bondo John"

You will not get any dyno test results from Air Doc Intakes.

1. Dyno testing on an AWD/4wheel dyno is VERY expensive and there are only a few reliable AWD/4wheel dynos in the country.
2. Air Doc Intakes keeps overhead low to give you the best product for the best price. They give you a very high quality product at a reasonable price. They are not going to spend that Dyno money without passing it along to you the consumer.
3. If you look at the photos below you will see the difference not only in the tube size but the resonator baffle "muffler", flex joint and bend (Alpha) restricted flow and created turbulence and thus slows the intake air velocity.
4. With as many satisfied customers and testimonials as Air Doc Intakes has that should be enough "proof" that it does affect the performance of the 3.5L and 3.7L I5, 5.3L (Alpha) and the 6.0L (H2). With crisper throttle response and a smoother HP/Torque band.
5. Air Doc Intakes has never stated any gains in MPGs. If any HUMMER owner is looking for a guaranteed increase in mileage I suggest you purchase a different vehicle. Once you modify the existing OEM platform (level, tires, rims, bumper, lights, lift, roof rack, etc) your mileage will suffer.
6. Are you going to gain 15hp with an Air Doc Intake? NO. Will you feel the difference in your butt dyno? YES.

No disrespect but "seat of pants" means nothing. People who think a gizmo will improve performance may think they feel it in the same way the placebo effect makes people think a sugar pill really works. I feel if Air Doc could show proof of either better MPG or better performance by Dyno or other testing they would. The amount it would cost would be offset by the increase in sales. A typical example is a throttle spacer. Many people buy it and claim a "Seat of the pants" improvement. But it's been proven through testing that it does nothing and in some cases actually decreases performance. So "seat of pants" is an impression or guess as to a feeling of better performance that is in the persons mind and has no proof of anything.. As everyone knows the market is saturated with many devices that have
false claims from curing all illnesses to losing weight. Some work but the majority don't. So pardon me for being skeptical. But I, like the rest of you work hard for our money and can't afford to waste it on unproven products because someone says there "***" tells them so.

Default whuts it werth!

150 buys almost 60 gallons, a 1000miles for me . spread out over the next 500 gal, thats 2mpg. but gone in 1 year so if it did that its worth it, 2 mpg, id buy.

a small unmeasurable increase in power is completly useless so you got to look at mileage. if no definet mpg then its a "platinum hyperdynaflectoriod" that claims 20% and delivers??? after 2 yr break in, 1 yr warr!

tom

always lookin
