My next hummer will be an H3T alpha. But for now and future i'm keeping my I5 H3. I would like to hear of options for upgrading this engine without draining my gas mileage. I get about 17 highway if i'm good and i have 22 miles both ways each day. For my day mostly getting out of the sub-division and driving the 22 miles and a small zig and zig about 10 city block or so and i'm good to go at work. Some more power would be good for the times i need it in the city. I would also like to hear if there are any OEM replacement engines that have a little more horse power. Can you get an alpha engine to drop into an H3?

STSTurbo.com: Buy Custom Turbo Systems for Sale ....these guys have a "Build your kit" link, seems custom but it only features cars that they already make kits for. Their kits are basically modified exhausts, I would think adapting one to an H3 wouldn't be that difficult.

My 3.7 suits me well... Tows my quads/trailer nicely(3000lbs) & even my car/trailer(5300lbs) pretty damn well. I dont live near mountains so uphill towing climbs arent a big issue.. It handles trails and sand dunes without issue and I've had air underneath it on snowy 2 track trails.. Handles about 16" of powder snow and 10" of heavy snow decent enough.

My Camaro is around 600hp with the boosted 4.2 which really makes me want to boost the 3.7.. 7psi would put it near 400hp which I already can imagine would be REALLY fun, especially in the snow... Someday!!

#1 Yes, all you have to do is use the search feature.

Intake, PP Throttle Body, PCM Tune, Efan Conversion, Cat Back exhaust and stick with 33" tires. 35s are great for off road, but definitely dim down street performance. As I said before, a fully modded I5 on 33s can run with any of the stock V8 stuff out there and get better mileage while doing it.

#2 NO there is no drop in crate motor.
They make an Alpha, and the front suspension geometry was changed to accommodate it. If price is no object, then you can dream up whatever you want. The super/Turbo stuff is big in OZ because they can't get a RHD V8. Complete waste of time here (unless you are into making a street queen). For the $10K super/turbo I5 cost, you instead sell your I5 and buy and Alpha, mod that, pocket the difference.

not without a lot of work. there is a guy here with a 5.3l supercharged and he only makes a little over 330 to the wheels. The 3.7l is 80+ hp less

Thanks guys! I will do some research on the upgrades and see if any make sense to me. I am going to try to keep this thing running and reevaluate it when i get to a position to upgrade to the H3T Alpha. Does anyone know if they made an H3T base model? I really don't like leather. I have the 2008 H3 Base and like it a lot. I'm always looking to hear if anyone knows of good Hummer Shops in SC or MI. I plan on at some point in the future moving back to MI (central). Maybe U.P. if i find a super deal but NE of Grand Rapids makes the most sense to me.

They made some of the H3T Alphas with cloth interiors. The leather was an option on the H3T Alphas.

Check out autotrader.com you will see interior pix there.
