Default Adding remote start?

Anyone have any experience with adding an aftermarket remote starter?
I am needing to get a new fob programmed too, so I am figuring a system that includes RKE and Remote Start.

I searched the forum first, but only found a vague match for an H2.

I'm not sure from your post if you're looking for a remote start for an H3 or an H2. I can tell you I've had a 'Clifford' remote start (Viper is the same company), and it's worked perfectly for the last 10 years in my '08 Alpha. There's been several people that have had bad luck with aftermarket remote starts but I think the trick is getting the right Passlock bypass for them to work correctly. I had mine professionally installed and they knew what they were doing. I've never even needed my O.E.M. fobs, as the Clifford fob takes care of all functions. It claims to have a 1 mile range, but for obvious reasons I've not needed to remote start from a distance that far.

Sorry, is this not the H3 section? I did mention "2008 Alpha"
Viper is what I am looking at mostly. Didn't see the "Clifford" but I will look.
So it handles the windows and locks no problem and added remote start? That is perfect!
I thought I would like push button start like I have in other vehicles, but I think that is a whole lot more involved.

Thanks for the feedback!

Check your post, it does not mentions '08 Alpha. It won't control windows but it does control remote start, door locks, turn on defroster (if you want it to) and the fob will even tell you the cabin temperature so you know when it's warmed up or cooled down. As I said, mine is about 10 years old so I'm guessing the new models may even do more.

I have a Code Alarm, works exactly like it is supposed to and with much better range than the OEM fobs, plus remote start.

I know nothing about how or who installed it, the prior owner I bought it from down south had it installed.

Did you find a remote start yet?

One from Flashlogic caught my attention:

"The FLRSBA is the ultimate remote start solution designed to maximize the use of the original key fob, transmitter or smart key. Simply press the Lock button 3 times to remote start and stop the engine."

Looks interesting.
Do they not show prices anywhere on that website?

Not that I could find. Their website isn't the easiest to learn from.

Once my truck is out of the shop I expect to call Flashlogic for the specifics. For example, I'm not quite sure what they mean by "bypass".

the bypass is what allows you to start it without the physical key in the ignition.
