acts like it wants to stall
#42
this is becoming a nightmare
Spark plugs definitely didn't do it b/c it just stalled on me on my way home from work. I think it stalls when its cold, and shakes but doesn't stall when it's warm.
I am trying the sea foam tomorrow.
Any other ideas?
btw I am thinking of replacing the MAF sensor myself. In case that wasn't the issue can I return them? are they easy to install?

The MAF sensor is stupid easy to get to... Idk but doubt, that it would need to be programed... Sorry for being a lazy surfer (I'm on my phone and not the comp in my defense) but what have you had done already? Did you clean the Throttle body and of the Mass Air Flow sensor?

Honestly, don't laugh at me guys but I'm a mechanical noob! I really don't know how to locate them. I am like the perfect victim for a mechanic trying to make some money.
1- Cleaning the throttle body. How do I do that?
2- Cleaning the MAF sensor. Where is it located and how do I do that?
3- I read about using a sea foam. My mechanic told me that to get the best out of it , I need to wait until the car is almost empty from gas. Anything else I need to know about it or should I just pour it in my gas tank?
thanks guys and again sorry for being horrible at this, I am just tired of taking it to mechanics and pay ridiculous bills w/o getting the problem fixed.

Ok... Noob assistance here we come. Again on my phone so posting pics is tricky... The MAF is located on the stock air intake tub, approx 6" to the right of the coolant/winsheild washer fluid containers... It has 4 screws on the top of the sensor. Best bet is to remove the whole intake itself which is a 10min job no prob. When you do so the throttle body is ontop of the engine facing out towards the passenger side. Simple hand tools will remove the intake btw... Be careful handling the MAF oils and contaminants can get on it and ruin it. Go to any auto parts store, pepboys, autzone, etc and you can get spray cleaners for both pieces...

George my pleasure glad we were able to rebuil your confidence in your Hummer... Now you can say you wrenched on your own car and tell the mechanics that YOU fixed it yourself!
Now go and teach what I have taught you my pupil! Lol
Next time I'm in the Boston are I'll look you up and grab a beer with ya!
