Default 180 Degree Thermostat for the H3? and Jet Chip?

hi guys, i want to get a stage 2 Jet Chip module for my h3, but the stage 2 asks for free flow exhaust, which i have, and a 180 degree thermostat to be installed.

i have searched high and low and cant find a 180 thermo. for the H3, i found plenty for the H2 though.

here is a link to the jet module

http://cgi.ebay.com/Jet-Chip-Module-...QQcmdZViewItem

also, does anyone here have a jet chip module installed on their h3? was there any noticeable difference?

thanks

My guess is that their "Stage 2" simply further advances timing and leans out the mixture, thus increasing cylinder temps, and their suggestion of a 180 degree thermostat.

Since you can't find the thermostat, I would imagine equal, if not better results could be achieved with a bottle of Watter Wetter and 1 heat range cooler spark plugs.

Your Hummer already has a 185 degree thermo, so you don't need to change it. I installed the stage 2 Jet chip, I have a Gibson cat-back exhaust and it makes a real difference, especially at 3000 rpm and above.

I am also considering the jet but stage 1. Did you notice any power gain. I just put 315 tires on my H3 today.

Chips = old/outdated technology.

Go with a PCM tune, instead of trying to "trick" your PCM by altering the actual sensor input information, you can custom tune many variables based upon what is actually happening.

A Tstat change to a lower temperature will also place a heavy load on your cooling system leading to premature failure and higher auto trans temps, also leading to premature AT failure.

Also, a PCM tune will recalibrate your speedo to larger tires, and keep AT shift points at the proper RPM point to maximize the performance increase by keeping you in the peak power band longer, something chips cannot do.

I have used Jet chips and Tstats years ago on many trucks, PCM tunes are a big improvement over the chip set ups. IMHO when you do a price comparison, no brainer.

Do you suggest a certain place to get a PCM tune?

I would guess 'Doc Old' sells them due to his high praise of them.

But on the serious side, I do not have the PCM, but am going to get it because of all the other high praise.
Just do a search for "PCM".
