Replacement windshields
#22
fastNYsix Safelite stopped manufacturing auto glass a few years ago. Now they will install any windshield you request. GM does not manufacture windshields. My '07 oem windshield is Jap owned manufacturer (pilkington). Most dealerships will just call in a glass replacement specialist+markup the price/cost to the customer. Do some research on recommended replacement glass, many manufacturer's to chose from pgw, xinyi, fuyao, carlex, pilkington,+more....
Here's a good list to choose from: OEM After Market Windshield Manufacturers

The one the local place put in mine is marked PGW DOT 43. PGW is Pittsburgh Glass Works. PGW is fairly well known but that link above states DOT 43 is PPG out of France. Maybe PPG contracts Pittsburgh Glass Works to make windshields??
