Default Replace Front Impact Sensor (GM# 15177813)

FT IMPACT SENSOR - 2004 Hummer H2 (15177813)

Is what I'm told by the body shop is 'probably' what is throwing up the error on my dash "service air bags". They told me the part number and said that 9/10 this will fix it, if you replace this part in the front bumper, but they can't be 100% without an electrical diag which costs more.

I found the part online for around $100 and I have the 2004 H2 Service Manual. Has anyone replaced this on their hummer? I can't imagine it's too hard once you get to it.

Also, is it true my air bags would NOT deploy if I was in a wreck since the sensor may be at fault?

I would think it's easy to replace. Be sure and disconnect your battery before hand. Yes if the air bag light is on they will not deploy in an accident.

Well after some more research I've decided to order 2 of these. I removed the skid plate and could see them. I will update again when I get them replaced, hopefully the light goes out! Seems to be the main culprit according to their videos on the dorman website

Interested in how you make out I'm having the same issue. Dealer confirmed bad sensor and recommended replacing both.

Why both ? Are there two front sensors ?
Don't hesitate to take pictures...

yes there are two, I ordered two just because I don't want to only replace one. I'll take pics when they arrive and when I install them.
