If you can get your troubled latch going without removing the lift gate panel then that would be best because you will always break some tab somewhere upon removal.
However, once removed, those latches are very basic and straight forward. Two bolts and one plug for the sensor. Sensors are integrated completely within the latch and cannot be separated. If you want to see a picture of it, just go to ebay and search for 'Hummer H2 gate latch'
Note, in order to get the latch mechanism working again, with the litigate in the air manually close the latch with your finger and spring it back open with the gate release handle. Do this over and over while hitting it with wd-40 and high pressure air combo until that latch is moving freely. Like I said, I've never one not return back to normal working condition, but then again, I guess they certainly could eventually fail.
