Auf and zu is German. Off and on, or however it translates. I didn't search it. Just from what i hopefully remember. Lol, don't know if it helped, but my $.02 .

"Auf" signifies a surface or object that something rests upon(secured) "Zu" means “to”/“towards” something (to release).

Lol, I learned all my German in about 1.5 years, 25 years ago while playing semi pro football after i got out of the Army. I can search definitions and all, but it all depends in the context. "Pass auf" means, watch out. In the end, $.02. Thanks for looking that up.
