High Trans Temp 190 F
#21
I was reading on another forum that 180* is where this unit fully opens.
180* is a given for this REMOTE THERMAL BYPASS winter or summer.
I need to tow my boat and see if it stays at 180* if it does, well it stays on the H2 if I see 200*+ like last year... IT'S OUT OF HERE !!

Why would you think 180 is ok, thats too high, you asked advice, you got it, the thermal bypass is junk, whats the purpose of installing a aftermarket cooler, only to be running 180, you should be well under 150, towing that is...

Man, you have me second guesing about this termal bypass.. what about the winter when it's -40 with the wind chill I dont have a rad to warm things up.

the bypass opening at 180 is why its running around that temp for sure it would be cooler without it, I don know what gm wants for the transmission temp, 200+ seems to hot, 160-180 might be right, my biggest problem with that bypass is if it goes bad at whatever point and doesn't allow fluid to flow at all, bypassing the radiator on the h2 was definitely worth doing because of the issues a lot of owners have had with fluid mixing, installing a bigger cooler to get temps below 200 was definitely worth doing, I think the transmission fluid will heat up even in artic winter (without a bypass installed) it will just take longer, contacting them might be worth the phone call

It will warm up, just from the friction alone in the tranny..

I got the ''TRANSMISSION HOSE'' today so I'll be installing the new 3/8'' lines and the compression fittings tomorrow.
If it looks like the transmission is not heating up enough during winter I'll have to re install that REMOTE THERMAL BYPASS.

I really havent tore into how to install the trans cooler yet. What do you do with the lines going into the radiator. I see the 2 lines going into the cooler but doesnt that still leave lines in the radiator.
Im asking this because mine just took a dump i think. Coolant in the transmission. Does that mean i need a new radiator as well.
So you just connect the external cooler to the lines going into the radiator then plug all the lines in the radiator.
