Default front lower ball joint needs replacement apparentyl

Got a 2003 hummer h2 and my alignment has been really bad but I don’t really drive this truck that much other then before the winter. So I took it for an alignment and the shop said my front lower ball joints need to be replaced and he explained how the ball has some play and basically comes out and I should get it fixed soon. He quoted 6 hours of labor for total of $720 including parts. I obviously didn’t go forward with it yet because I wanna make sure that’s how long it actually takes. Is 6 hours fair to change both front lower ball joints? Secondly, he said he did the alignment but he said I will probably lose it in a couple weeks etc and said if I get the lower ball joints fixed by him, he will do alignment again for free. He attached the alignment print out and I drove the truck for a day and it still feels the exact same like they didn’t do the alignment. Is this because my lower ball joints are bad meaning they couldn’t really align it properly? Or is the shop not doing there job properly. thanks

Lower ball joints a high wear part and do need to be changed if you have some miles on your rig. If you do go that route, tell him you want some quality ball joints like MOOG or you will be doing it again soon if he uses cheap Chinese parts.

I only have 67000 miles on my rig and they are still good.
