De-Chroming w/ Rust-Oleum Spray Paint
I’m sure this has been done in the past, but I thought I’d share my experience.
I am painting over the chrome bits on my Hummer with Rust-Oleum in Matte Hammered. I figured if I mess it up, I can always wrap them in the future.
H3 with chrome trim. “before”
Removed the handles first. Masked the back side of the handles and plastic parts.
Used a medium box and cut holes in it to hold the parts in, and keep them upright for painting.
Example (sample) of a center cap spray painted with Rust-oleum in matte hammered. Used a dremel to remove the paint over the Hummer label and accent.

I definitely do plan on doing the grill as well as the mirrors. The nerf bars will eventually be removed all together.

yeah, I ended up using a 120grit. And honestly, being handles, I don’t expect the paint to last very long; which is ok. Might end up wrapping them in the future if that’s the case.

I paint the chomed and cracked grill on my hummer, just because I couldn't find proper replacement, we will see how long it will work...
Normally to make proper job, you should remove the chrome completely. To do such from my mags, I spent 800$ for 5......
