Bad CV Axle Recommendations
#11
After 40+yrs in auto repair, CARDONE axles and TIMKEN bearings are my ONLY choice!

Haha y’all make me laugh. I put them in last night and wow what a difference. I didn’t know bad wheel bearings had such an effect of braking and steering!
the wierd part was earlier this week when I jacked the truck up there was probably 1/4-1/2 of movement at the top of the tire but right before I replaced them, I felt and there was no movement at all. Maybe they get worse with heat from being driven on or maybe they were just scared that they were getting replaced😂.
While I had the hub apart I was able to more closely inspect the cv shaft. There is no visible damage to the boot and it’s nice and tight with no movement. The u joint I used on my impact to get the brake caliper bolts off… not so much. Those things are tight!
So I suspect it’s probably noise from a ball joint or sway bar bushing when weight shifts around. But everything in that department is still tight. I’ll grease everything and check it over later.

Just throwing this out there for those that ever buy moog hubs. Use the oem abs sensor or zip tie the wire. It’s is like an inch too long and it tore itself apart despite being properly routed with the tree clips.

Turns out I’m just dumb. The wire needs to be twisted in a way that it makes an S shape. Then it’s just fine.
when I pulled the moog sensor out I noticed it used a flimsy thin o-ring and Home Depot silicone to seal it up. Not very quality if you ask me.
