My 08h2 has been randomly showing a service 4wd and traction control and won’t go into any other 4wd modes usually all I need to do is shut the truck off for a while and then start it again and the service light is gone but it keeps happening more and more and when the service 4wd is on the truck dose drive fine anyone else have this problem or any advice please

 

go get a code reader or have it scanned for free at the auto parts store. Could be something simple like a wheel speed sensor. 08s don’t have an abs pump it’s all built in to the booster, so if you’re brakes are working at all there likely isn’t an issue there. But who knows.

 

I do have a obd2 reader I got from a parts store paid like 100 bucks and when I plug it in when the service 4wd and traction control light comes on it says there is no codes so I don’t know if I need a better code reader or what is going on

 

@Miketheike08H2 - I have the same issue... it was intermittent, and is now permanent. The Service 4WD light is on, the Service Stabilitrak light is on, and the Traction Control is off, and none of the 4WD modes work. This of course went from intermittent to a problem right in the middle of four wheeling - ugh.

It is now being worked on at Predator... will let you know what they find.

 

Yeah that’s the same thing mine is doing sometimes it’s only the service the four wheel drive and other times it’s service the 4wd and stababilitrack and traction control so I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what you find out thanks again

 

are you getting any codes like a bad steering angle sensor fault? C0710

 

No codes come up when I plug in my code reader and I did just get a new steering wheel position sensor put in like two months ago to fix my stabilatrack

 

Post the make/model of your "obd2 reader".

 

I got mine from O’Reilly it’s a innova 5210

 

You're limited to pcm & abs codes. Find a scanner with access to all modules.
