A Recall is a safety issue initiated champagne..Such as for Bad brakes, Bad SRS, engine/electrical shorts and fire related things...Stuff like that that would cause you and property damage or worse, wreck the HUMMER.

Dennis,

Yeah I understand that, the unfortunate thing is that I just went through a Head Job on my Land Rover, and to say the least it was NOT cheap...I am certain safety drives the recall, but to have to have a head job (known at that), after your warranty is up sucks...

I wish they could grandfather us all and give us the 100k mile warranty they are offering on the 07...

I agree..Grandfathering the 100K warranty would be awesome..

I guess if this problem keeps up for a while we may see a TSB on this in the near future Like Land Rover does ...God knows About Land Rover...The Little hunk of juck I had, has BIG problems with Tranny and Engine failures right about after the warrany expired...Talk about rubbish!

My H3 has the issue since it was diagnosed on Jan 10. The dealer still has not been given any ETA on backordered replacement part and the truck is undriveable due to the issue. It looks good, sitting in my driveway and Im enjoying my fiancee's car daily ....

call the GM number listed in one of the stuck threads up top. Demand that they pay you for down time. or get a loaner...why do you not have a loaner if the truck is undriveable and the part is on order...that smells fishy!! I would call gm direct and bitch.

Hi all,

I had the truck picked up by a flatbed and brought to the dealer on Monday since it was undriveable due to the issue.

I escalated to the 800# and requested a buyback since they cannot give me an ETA on the repair. Case manager called from Hummer and advised no buyback - and no ETA on part but it should be "soon" since they advised I was purportedly 32 on the list to get the part and that they have 1,100 head assemblies on backorder. Driving a 07 H3 loaner that smells like a dirty ashtray.

OK at the risk of making myself WAYYY unpopular! You want a buyback??? LOL You don't even come close to falling under the Lemon Law. I understand your frustration, but MANY of us have had to endure this as well. It's an UNFORTUNATEissue that has occurred, GM is fixing it, offering loaner vehicles for the duration, offering a decent extended warranty with some added perks if you know how to ask (insist) for it, which will put you better off than you would have been to begin with with the 06 warranty! Suck it up, go the distance, ask for a "NON-stinky" loaner car...no, don't ask...DEMAND a better loaner vehicle (nicely but firmly of course). But what makes you feel like you should have a buy back when countless others have endured this as well? Maybe I just love my Hummer too much? NAH!

Hi,

I asked for a buyback so I could replace it with an 07 that actually runs. I love my H3 but it kind of defeats the purpose to pay $40k for a lawn jockey. The way I figure it GM can take the mess off my hands and fix it at their leisure and sell it to someone else at a discount once its straight.

Re the Lemon Law, according to the facts of my situation, I actually could have sent a 10 day demand letter to GM (under my state lemon law) this week to repair or refund had I just left the truck at the dealer when they couldnt fix it earlier this month. But instead of doing that I thought Id give it the benefit of the doubt and "suck it up" thinking it would be fixed in the not so distant future. I am sorry I did since the truck quickly became undriveable and they now tell me Im 32 on the list of 1,100 backordered but cant even guestimate when Ill get the part in So the clock is currently ticking on the lemon law timer. In addition, there is also the potential independent cause of action under federal and state warranty laws that continues to exist (outside of the lemon law).

I hope they get this straight soon so I can enjoy my H3. Otherwise Ill just replace it with an 07 that doesnt have this major issue.

Best regards
